Work from home Web Dev

Contract Job, Technical & Development | Tuesday 26th August 2008

According to BRW, my client is one of Australia’s top 100 web2.0 sites.

Personally, I think they’re cool because they now have a role which means that you can work from home wearing your daks. You could always wear a suit, if that’s what you’re into but no-one’s going to force you!

Working remotely your core responsibilities include maintenance and extension of the PHP-based core and frontend HTML/CSS templates. Secondary responsibilities include basic Linux maintenance and MySQL database management. You should have a strong understanding of PHP, and must be able self-discover functionality based on the source-code. Understanding of Object Oriented programming would be highly recommended. Understanding of common *nix daemon administration (such as Apache, Subversion, MySQL, Cron and Bind) would be preferable.

Integration with SNS such as Twitter, Seesmic, and Brightkite is all part of the pipeline.

The role will require a minimum of 3 days per week (or up to 5 days if you have the time) for at least 3 months, with a very strong probability of extension.

This is a great role for someone that’s working on their own project and wants to have a steady stream of contract income AND to play an important technical role in this site’s evolution. Or it could just be great for someone who doesn’t like getting dressed to go to work each day. Either way, it’s a wonderful opportunity.
