We have a great opportunity for a midweight - senior Java developer. Unlike a lot of the Java work occurring in Sydney, our client is not a bank! In fact, they’re far from it; they wear casual clothes and have a great culture, including impromptu games of cricket inside the office! They’re also embarking on a number of interesting technical initiatives which are scheduled for 2008.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of object-oriented software development methodologies, configuration management (CVS), and web application architecture and infrastructure. Ideally you will have 2-4 years solid development experience with OO Java/JSP in a dynamic, fast-paced application development environment.

You should understand a number of technologies / software packages including: Eclipse, Subversion, Atlassian Bamboo, JIRA or Tango, Confluence, JUnit, SpringMock, and Tomcat 5.5. You will also be across a number of web development frameworks (such as Struts 2, Spring MVC, and JSF).

You will have design experience in Oracle 9i and familiarity with MySQL.

A secondary language will be considered very favourable, whether this be C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc. and experience with Linux (primarily Red Hat) is taken as a given.

For the right candidate, this role has the potential to grow into a solution architect role in time. With that in mind you should have the ability to understand the developments occurring within the Java framework and be future focussed.
