Art Director - Digital Agency
Permanent Job, Design & Creative | Sunday 7th January 2007The role of Art Director, within our clients creative team, is to consistently deliver communications messages to clients’ audiences in an engaging manner. You will lead graphic and interactive design projects for a portfolio of designated clients, including brand development, corporate identity, online media campaigns, websites, animation and multimedia. The position entails working with the Head of Design to determine the design direction of a project, then working alongside and guiding other members of the design team to ensure that the project design is implemented to the highest quality standard within the specified time allocated.
You:
Are an effective communicator with the ability to interpret briefs, research, document and develop creative design concepts.
Are able to confidently liaise with Clients, the Head of Design, Project Managers, Account Managers, Content Managers and Copywriters to ensure creative design communicates and functions successfully across mediums.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Degree or training in Graphic Design, Advertising or a related area.
- At least 5 years experience as a Graphic Designer in one of the following areas; Interactive, Advertising Agency, Graphic Design, Film/TV. At least 4 years experience in Web design. Print production and illustration skills highly valued.
- Expertise in the latest design software on PC and Macintosh. Photoshop, Flash and Freehand/Illustrator skills are essential. A working knowledge of broader interactive technologies is encouraged.
- A strong understanding of the capabilities of ActionScript, HTML, DHTML and Javascript is highly desirable.
- Proven understanding of GUI design, information and interaction design and usability considerations. Strong understanding of capabilities of browsers and design constraints of the Internet.
- Demonstrated strong design style and quality standards. Experience producing creative design solutions within constraints of the Internet.
- Understanding of typography in both print and digital mediums.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment. Responsible for managing and art directing members of the design team on a project by project basis.
- Understanding of time management and resource management in a Creative team.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentor and share knowledge across team and company wide.
- Appreciation of brand guidelines and the importance of working within visual constraints.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conceptual and completed designs according to individual project requirements.
- Optimising visual design and concepts for the Internet.
- Visually integrating and enhancing site architecture, user interface and navigation according to specifications agreed by clients.
- Coordination with all teams, especially the Design and Technical departments, to determine how creative design is implemented.
- Development of creative concepts in collaboration with other team members, individually or as part of formal brainstorms.
- Understanding of creative design concepts and ability to communicate them to other company members and clients when necessary.
- Adhering to, and ensuring other team members adhere to, agreed delivery timetables, working within budgeted time allowances.
- Ensuring design team members have adequate information in project briefs to successfully perform tasks.
- Notifying Project Managers of any changes in schedule or project deliverables.
- Performing interim reviews of designs to ensure project briefs and branding specifications are adhered to.
- Coordination with the Creative Director about project progress, design direction and individual designers’ performance at regular intervals.
- Providing an example of professionalism for other design team members to aspire to.
